English: Hubble photographed previously unknown rings around Uranus as well as two small moons between 2003 and 2005. Voyager 2's flyby of Uranus in 1986 had shown the planet's first nine rings, but the outer rings were extremely faint and farther from the planet than anyone had expected. Clued by the Hubble discovery, astronomers reexamined archival images from Voyager 2 and found the rings — overlooked for almost two decades.
